NYC Photo Blogging Event

photoblog.JPG

Several hundred people gathered at the Apple Store in Soho for the NYC Photobloggers event tonight, organized by Rion and Jake Dobkin.

We learned several things, including how slow the Apple internet connection was. Tabbed browsing would have been a big win. Jake sure likes his cat Thompson. We met Eliot Shepard, who takes great pictures inside museums (Dia Beacon and Dia Soho) and outside. I particularly like an image he had up at the Bekman show a few weeks ago.

Rion had some great photos and in fact, posted a panda entry sure to hit home with Gothamist from the podium.

I liked a lot of the images by Mike from Satan's Laundromat. It's always interesting where you can get to and what you see when you're there. Nice story behind the name BTW. The other five photobloggers each had a different take on why they took pictures and how they ran their site.

We said hello to Rachelleb, who's leaving soon for Chicago. We also introduced ourselves to Jen Chung. We had rudely forgotten to do so when passing on the Grange Hall tip the other day. Anil Dash was take camera phone pictures from the middle of the audience.

Anyway, a fun event, even though I was a bit under the weather. "M" and I then headed over to Kelley and Ping, for old times sake.
