What the Hole is not to Love

courtney-love2.jpgI'm sure I'm not the only person who's going to comment on this, but when I saw that Courtney Love was going to be on Letterman, I knew I had to watch. Somewhat like looking at a car wreck in the process of happening, Courtney was sure to screw up in a big big, yet compelling way. She did not disappoint.

I can't imagine Dave L was surprised with how she behaved. She pulled her top off numerous times to the badly sung "Danny Boy", confessed her lifelong crush on Dave, kept squirming like a three year old, kept trying to launch into stories about runins with the police (prelude to later that night I guess), telling Dave the clip is of her video where little girls come out from under her dress and shoot Dave (not that she had a clip of course), and finally losing track of not only her stories, but perhaps even where she was physically.

To all appearances, she was insane, on drugs, or both. Dave had to know that she's completely lost it. Well if he didn't know it before, he certainly does now. When apologizing for not having enough time for the other guest, a sports writer, he said that when the writer saw where things were going, he hopped in a cab. "And can you blame him?" dead panned Dave.

courtney-love.jpgI have both of the Holes albums (which I like) so was interested to see if she got better when she started singing. Umm, no. Especially since she was really moaning/groaning more than actual singing.

Others have similiar things to say about her in general. I'm sure she'll be the topic of several newspaper articles in the morning. Trust the Post to get some extra juicy details

Update: Why am I not surprised: She was arrested later that night for hurling a microphone stand into the audience and injuring an audience member: CNN

Update 2: Gothamist does it's usual great job summarizing this and pointing out the definitive version of what happened last night from whatevs.org. I note that Letterman took tonight and tomorrow off. Well actually just today since he usually tapes Thurs and Friday one after another on Thursday.
