Central Park Easter Extravaganza

cp-easter-1.jpg

Central Park is getting ready for an Easter Extravaganza on Saturday. We wandered by on Friday and saw the Bethesda Fountain was all ready for them. Gothamist has more details as does the Central Park Conservancy

Jen:

Great pictures - but what are the carrots? Just for show? It sort of feels like this is already the event, the the Big Carrot in charge and then the little carrots (in ground) are awaiting orders.

Perhaps when the carrots grow big enough, they too go into the big hat and disappear.

This particular interpretation does somewhat reflect Easter's origins as a pagan fertility festival.

But who knows, perhaps it's the carrots re-enacting a Law and Order episode. The carrot on the right looks somewhat like McCoy, doesn't it?
