Puente de la Mujer, designed by Santiago Calatrava, is an architecturally interesting footbridge in the Puerto Madero section of Buenos Aires. Donated by the Gonzalez family, the bridge rotates ninety degrees around it's central pylon. The wooden planking, the sloping surface and the steel cables are very striking.
In a way, it points at the Obelisk several kilometers away.

The area of puerto madero pays homage to important women in history and every street is named after a woman, thence the bridge is a tribute to women

the name bridge of a woman is given because of calatravas idea of the bridge being a man dancing with a woman dipping her so that the straight of her back makes up the bridge span. his idea was influenced from the fact that Buenos AIres used the feminine often in their streets and landmarks.
