I think this might be one person going around using this same joke. In the 3rd Ave L train stop (Bklyn bound) someone wrote in the same handwriting, "You call that kerning?" (or something very similar) next to the titles on the movie poster for Alexander. The letters' serifs were touching.

Whoever wrote that probably has to wear girl repellant - all women love a man who corrects other's kerning.

That's hilarious. The question is - were they being sarcastic (being in a design school and all) or were they being serious with the comment? I bet a little of both.

I am the King of Type and I feel that society needs more of this kind of self-policing when it comes to typography. What will the generations of tomorrow think if they see "BITCH" simply scrawled on a bathroom stall with no attention to its subtle yet very impactful aesthetic sensibility?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha . . . I think it's hysterical. But, I went to Parsons. Quality typography is indeed an issue everywhere. Oh how I want to write that myself so many times.

I actually find the spacing between the i and the t to be more offensive than between the t and the c. Interesting that they should bother to correct, but not point to the most egregious error.
