We'd read about the Inn at Thorn Hill and in fact, had tried to stay there before without success. So when we finalized our plans to meet our friends, we were excited to see the place. We stayed in the cheaper rooms in the carriage house. Downstairs was an old school living room. Upstairs the bedrooms were quite nice. We had a view of the main lodge. Plus, the outdoor hot tub was right outside. The rooms were somewhat pricey, but breakfast, dinner, and a packed lunch were included for two people, making it almost a bargain. Oh, and the packed lunches came in little backpacks. It was really well done.

One of the best features was the large wraparound porch. We sat there for hours with iced tea and wine, chatting, looking out at the field and watching the fog roll around the hilltops.

We ordered a bottle of wine which the waitress was unable to find in the cellar. One by one, the staff disappeared into the basement only to come up with a puzzled look on their faces. Eventually, the bartender came up with this bottle and said, we're completely out of the other, I think you'll like instead.
It was nice, after it aired out for a while. While we were waiting for that, I kept noticing this sticker on the wine. Apparently, they had a fire a few years ago. The water used to put out the fire wound up in the basement wine cellar. This led to him offering to take us downstairs for the tour. The wine wasn't damaged, but state law said they had to sanitize the bottles.
