We finally had a chance to try a full meal at Cookshop. Well, almost, there was so much food that we had to skip dessert.
We tried the apple/blue cheese salad again, the apples were still deliciously tart. The fried vegetables and yogurt turned out to be tempura. The yogurt's sourness turned out to be a great balance to the breaded vegetables (and apples). The brocoli suprisingly didn't do so well, but otherwise, a great change of pace for me. The duck taquito's were surprisingly delicious and crunchy. It's not something I would automatically order, but I would get them again.
The entrees weren't quite as good as the appetizers. The pasta dish included a puree of beets. I usually avoid beets in their whole form and this dish has helped me realize it's not just the texture. I don't like their flavor. I love Five Points's baked pasta which this was quite similiar to. So if you like beets, you'll love this dish.
The steak was nicely cooked and the vegetables with it were delicious. I agree with Andrea Strong's review though. The steak could have used a bit more flavor, even though it clearly had been cooked well.
The room was packed and it had a pretty good vibe. Service was gracious and excellent. M thought it felt like LA with the large wall of windows. Apparently brunch will start in a few weeks which we're looking forward to. We'll definitely be back.
The couple next to us laughed when I took pictures of the dishes so I gave them the whatisee card. It turns out that one of them knew of little old us. They even gave us a recomendation for another place to try: Queens Hideaway (which already has a not so funny story.)

Gee, don't you think you should have saved room for dessert? :-D
